Restaurant Outing at Posana Café

Please note the day and time vary from our usual meetings. We will enjoy a gluten-free meal together at the new Posana Café in downtown Asheville. The ENTIRE menu is gluten-free...they even have gluten-free beer. To view the menu, go to www.posanacafe.com. They serve a Tapas-style menu with selections ranging from $3.50 to $9.75. Desserts are $5.50 and all are gluten-free!

We will meet at Posana Café at 5:30 pm. Directions: Posana Café is located at One Biltmore Avenue in downtown Asheville. It is in Pack Square, directly across Biltmore Ave. from Pack Place.
Best Nutritional Practices on the Gluten-Free Diet

Laurie Steenwyk will present information on how to stay healthy on a gluten-free diet. As many of you know, the gluten-free diet does not necessarily provide all the vitamins and minerals and nutritional balance to live a healthy life. Laurie will share her knowledge with us. (Also in anticipation of the October meeting, please bring some of your favorite gluten holiday recipes that you would like to convert to gluten free)

Please come to sample a variety of gluten-free pizzas. If you have a special recipe or just a delicious one, please bring it! This is a great opportunity to do a side by side taste test.
How to Adapt your special holiday recipes to be gluten-free

We will have an interactive discussion on how to convert your favorite holiday recipes to be gluten-free. We will use guidelines and suggestions from a variety of sources. (even if you did not bring a recipe in August, bring one now and we will work on it!)
Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) Gluten-Free Holiday Potluck
Sunday, November 8 The Farm Party Barn
All members of the local gluten-intolerance support groups and their families are invited to this holiday gathering to share great gluten-free food and socialize. Please bring a gluten-free dish to share with the group. Plates, utensils, beverages and turkey will be provided. Directions: The Farm is located in Candler. From I-40 take exit 44 (Enka-Candler) and turn right off the ramp onto 19/23 South. Drive ~3 miles and turn right onto Justice Ridge Rd. Drive ~1 mile. The Farm entrance is on the left.
December- No meeting is planned
We will take a break in December and resume our regular meeting schedule on January 19th. Happy Holidays!

From Interstate 40, take exit 50 south onto Hendersonville Road (U.S. 25),
drive approximately 2.2 miles to Carolina Day School on the right.
From I-26, take exit 37 (old exit 6) onto Long Shoals Road and continue to
Hendersonville Road (U.S. 25). Turn left onto Hendersonville Road and go
approximately 3 miles to the entrance on the left. You will pass under the
Blue Ridge Parkway and the campus will be at the next stoplight.
When you enter the campus, bear right and then take the first right into the
parking lot for the Upper School. People are requested to enter by the doors
on the far left of the front of the building (when facing it.) If you get
lost or need further directions the day of the meeting, please call Sheila
